The Armstrong Award Ushers in the Next Generation to Greater Tiverton Community Chorus

Former Choral Director paves the way for new singers at GTCC.

The Greater Tiverton Community Chorus (GTCC) is proud to welcome new members with the launch of The Armstrong Award, funded by former GTCC Choral Director Beth Armstrong and her husband Stewart Armstrong.

The Armstrong Award aims to pave the way for a new generation of singers at the chorus and will consist of donations in the form of membership fees. The fees will be paid for a number of new joiners, spread over a three-year period. The fund will pay four new members’ fees for the 2024 choral season (Fall and Spring semester) and two new members’ fees for each season thereafter until 2027, amounting to $1,200 over the duration of the award.

Prospective members are urged to apply to GTCC by submitting the form below to be considered for this award. The deadline for submission is September 19, 2024.

The award of the funds requires recipients to be in their first year with the chorus. Awardees will be selected by the GTCC Board of Directors based on their interest and involvement in music. The Board is particularly keen to invite individuals who add diversity to the chorus, including but not limited to, diversity of age.

Announcing the launch of the Armstrong Fund, Beth Armstrong said:

“Stew and I love the GTCC after directing it and singing in it for twenty years. We desire to see it continue and grow into a vibrant group of diverse singers.”

Open sing rehearsals will be September 5, 12 and 19. Join us to decide if you want to be a member.

Welcoming the launch of the new fund, President of GTCC, Wendy Thibault said:

“The GTCC is humbled by the generosity of Beth and Stew Armstrong, and look forward to welcoming many new members.”
